joan fraserBorn in Nova Scotia, I grew up with a deep love of nature, drawn to the Atlantic Ocean and the richly colourful forests of Eastern Canada. Throughout my life, I’ve always turned to natural spaces for grounding, reflection, and personal renewal.

I have a lifelong passion for photography. My photographic focus and style is influenced by my love of nature, world travels, and an appreciation for diverse cultures and traditions. The Eastern Arctic, Asia, and Africa are strong influences and sources of inspiration, and my camera is a constant close companion.

My photography reflects my interest in composition, the constant interplay between shape and form, line and curve, light and shadow. I enjoy experimenting with positive and negative space, and with spaces themselves. My primary aim is to capture in stillness an unusual perspective, a singular moment, as in the photograph “Daniel”. I’m delighted when viewers discover new elements or points of view in my images.

I currently divide my time between Baffin Island, Nunavut, where I work in nursing, and Victoria, BC, where I’m sustained by the beauty of the Pacific Ocean and the West Coast’s majestic forests.

I’m happy to share these photographs for others to enjoy. Please obtain permission from Joan Fraser Photography by email.
